Close to the church on Spilled Blood there is the Russian art museum, founded by Emperor Alexander III. The museum has a rich collection of paintings of Russian artists, sculptorsand icon painters. Here you can see Repin, Surikov, Filonov, Levitsky and sculptures by Shubin Antokolski etc. Mikhailovsky Palace, which houses the Russian Museum - one of the wonderful creations of architect Rossi. Let's take a look at an interesting building - House of Books, the largest bookstore. The building was built in 1904. Designed by the architect Suzor for the sewing machine company " Singer & Co". Finally, you come to the Palace Square - the main square of the city. Palace Square is a monument to Russia's victory in the Patriotic War of 1812. In the center of the Palace Square - Alexander Column designed by architect Montferrand. It is 47.5 m high and crowned with an angel holding a cross. The angel's face has a portrait likeness with Emperor Alexander I, winner of the 1812 war. Architectural composition Rossi is surrounded by the Winter Palace, the Hermitage and the building of the General Staff.
